“J, you need to do this professionally.”
“J, I need to talk to you. I know it’s 2AM, but can we talk?”
These are some of the things I heard in college and now into my professional life. The first one (or a variation of it) is the one I have heard the most. Women have always related well to me and seem to take comfort in talking to me about their issues. It’s not always about men; but most of the time, it is. I have always believed women to be more perceptive of the two genders, so I think they see that I genuinely am interested in listening to their problems.
While in college, it was not uncommon for me to receive phone calls or texts at 3AM from a girl asking if she could come over to talk. Sometimes talking led to “talking,” but I was always there for them if they needed it. It wasn’t always about guys or sex (most of the time it was)…sometimes it was career advice…sometimes family stuff…sometimes it was a ride home because her third date ended up snorting various powders at a party.
Anyway, over the past ten years, I’ve collected tons of experiences and conversations; and I’m still having them today in my prime. Women are always interested in finding others like themselves, so they seek out dating / sex/ relationship advice from other sites. The problem is that women author most of the sites. I decided to create Shower Tokens to give women a viewpoint from the male side. Yes, sometimes it is as easy as He’s Just Not That Into You, but other times, it can be a bit more complicated regardless of what Burger would have you believe. Shower Tokens is a journey thorough the conversations and experiences with some of the best women in my life.
