How did I get to the name Shower Tokens?
I hear that question pretty often. The name was actually created while I was on vacation in Beverly Hills with one of my good girls, Anna. I had bounced my ideas for the blog off of her, and she loved it; but I knew we needed something catchy. So we’re cruising around with the top down, and I asked her to start sprouting off words girls considered “cute and sexy.” I figured she is in my target audience, so I should ask. She laughed and started with, “Shoes?”
“Shoes?” I asked. “I said cute AND sexy.”
“Shoes are sexy!!” she said with some passion in her voice like she was thumping a Bible.
For the record, I know shoes are sexy, but, as a guy, we don’t look there first. She continued to sprout off words and finally got to, “Shower.” I’m not sure about anything she said else after that because that is when my eyes lit up and my mind started to roam. Anna has a tendency to give me 8,000 more details or words than I care to hear about, so I finally stopped her, “Shower is a great start.”
“Why?” she asked.
“Well, the only free time I ever really get to think alone is when I’m in the shower in the morning. I usually do a lot of reflecting when I’m in there.”
“Reflecting, huh?” she interrupted in a flirty voice and a smile.”
“Yes, reflecting,” I smiled. “I think often of the girls, things I’ve done with them and just experiences that have been had.”
I think she knew I was serious and just said, “Yeah that’s a start.”
Tokens
I had a start, but I knew “Shower” wasn’t going to do it. I needed something tangible that people could feel, and also I was sure “Shower.com” was already taken. Over the next few weeks, I let my mind wander trying to think of something tangible that I could incorporate with “shower.” I love a good double entendre, so I was having a difficult time. Making it even tougher was that I didn’t want to make the women in my life seem like I saw them as objects…I wanted readers to see them as valuable. Once I got my mind set that way, it occurred to me that money is something that is universal and valuable. Thus the name, “Shower Tokens” was born.
